The present paper deals with the issue of burnout syndrome in officers of offense departments whose profession is characterized by high demands on communication and high level of social stress. A standardized MBI - Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaire and a semi-structured questionnaire designed for the study were used. The results show that officers of offense departments are clearly at risk of burnout. The greatest stress in their work is caused by the large number of solved offenses, communication with an aggressive client and adherence to deadlines for offense solution. Psychosomatic symptoms of cardiopulmonary and gastrointestinal systems, fatigue, sleep disorders and back pain were observed in the study group.
